Ndukwu Chibundom Kaosisochukwu

My name is Ndukwu Chibundom. I am the best graduating student of the faculty of law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University for the 2023/2024 session with a CGPA of 4.84. My interests and goals which are legal research and academic writing, Intellectual Property law, Commercial law, Mental Health law and Company law. I participated actively in different extracurriculars as a student. My interest in academic writing led to my service in the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Law Review as Senior Editor. I also engaged in legal research and writing, winning multiple local and national essay competitions, including the Pentagon Partners LP National Essay Competition (2024) of which I emerged winner, and the DOWA AI Policy Case Study Challenge, of which I emerged 3rd place. My multiple essay wins made me win the award of Legal Writer of the Year in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, in furtherance of my interest in Intellectual Property Law, I participated actively in the Intellectual Property Law Club of my university, serving as the Social Media Manager and representing the school in the NIPC National IP Quiz Competition in 2023, of which we emerged 3rd place. I also constructively built myself to take up several leadership positions. As the Lord Chancellor of Equity Chambers and the Head of the Academic Board of Clasfon in my university, I ensured that I educated members and younger students on different aspects of law. I also published and launched ‘A-Z of Court Practive (the Law Student’s Toolkit)’. My outstanding work in those two positions led to my winning the awards of Lord Chancellor of the Year, Senior Advocate of the Year and Female Leadership Icon of the Year in 2024. Finally, my interest in giving back to the society was the driving force towards my participation as a Millennium Fellow in 2023, wherein I founded the Speak Up project and in collaboration with She Writes Woman, launched a mental health outreach for all Unizik students. I also joined Junior Chamber International, and served both in executive capacities, in community outreach, and tutored students on public speaking. In all, I have held: 10+ executive and leadership positions 10+ organisation memberships 5+ internship positions 8+ awards for leadership 7+ essay awards My career goals are to specialize in company, commercial and intellectual property law and to contribute to legal reforms in Nigeria, especially in the area of the Nigerian mental health law. I aspire to provide pro bono legal aid, mentor young students, and to also open a non-governmental organization focused on promoting the interest of the mentally ill in Nigeria. I also intend to contribute significantly to legal academia. I dream of being an authority in the legal profession in Nigeria.
