Oluwadamilare Fabiyi

As an individual, I have a consistent drive to solve problems, build structures, and inspire collaborative action. While in the University of Ibadan(June 2019- February 2025)I stayed in Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of residence where I served as the Clerk and Honourable Member of the Hall Legislative Council(2021), gaining early experience in student legislation, budget implementation, and institutional documentation. Also, I served as the Hall Secretary of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, where I secured over one million naira in sponsorships through proposal writing, this facilitated the installation of solar-powered lights in three reading rooms of the hall.(2022). I coordinated weekly academic tutorials that benefited over a thousand students. Finally, I served as the Chairman of the hall in my final year(2024) where I solved long-standing issues by creating a needs assessment document and solving top two problems on priority preference. Beyond service in the Hall, I was elected as a Student Representative in the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, where I collaborated with peers to vet and approve student-focused budgets and policies. I was later elected Majority Leader(2023), leading the representatives from Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall leading 19 other Honorables to represent over 1,700 students. In this role, I facilitated strategic communication, fostered accountability within the Council, and championed legislation that supported student welfare. My leadership also extends to national and global public health spaces. In January 2023, I founded Public Health Data Watch where I still presently serve as Editor-in-Chief, I lead a team dedicated to translating public health data into actionable insights through weekly publications and short research articles. Under my leadership, the team has published over 20 data-driven pieces, empowering the general public with contextual understanding of health issues. Similarly in June 2023, I Co-founded and presently serve as the Executive Director of EcoCIS Club, where I have led advocacy outreaches on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in five schools, three markets, and four communities, designing interventions that promote health equity and environmental resilience. As the Pioneer President of the Students’ One Health Club(2024) at the University of Ibadan, I led over 150 students from 18 departments across the human, animal, and environmental health spheres. One of our most impactful projects was the 2024 World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week campaign, which featured a university-wide rally, abbatoir, poultry, radio outreach, and student symposium, highlighting the interconnectedness of health disciplines in solving global challenges.
