While in school, I served in numerous leadership capacity Most notably, I served as President of the Nigerian Economics Students’ Association (NESA), University of Ibadan, where I led over 8 executive members and represented more than 400 students. During my administration, we revamped the existing mentorship scheme to be more comprehensive by pairing students to high-performing old students in the Faculty for academic guidance and support and this initiative led to a marked improvement in academic performance directly advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education). In collaboration with prestigious organizations like EduBridge Academy and Inspiring the African Youth for Development (IAYD), we introduced a first of its kind “Economic Research Challenge 1.0.” This initiative was to promote policy thinking among the students of the Faculty by providing a platform for them to explore and present solutions to topical economic issues. The focus of the research was on the “Impact of Financial Inclusion on Mitigating Poverty in Nigeria.” Several entries were received and the top 3 entries got cash prizes as well as scholarships to the Analyst Program of the EduBridge Academy. Before then, I had served as the General Secretary of the Faculty, where I had introduced an “E-Secretariat” which was an initiative tailored towards leveraging cloud-based storage for keeping correspondences rather than the conventional paper usage, significantly reducing cost of administration as well as promoting sustainability. As a member of AIESEC in Ibadan, I also served as an Experience Manager where I led a six-person team to implement feedback and complaints resolution framework to ensure that exchange participants were fully integrated and happy with their experiences. This strengthened my cross-cultural leadership and communication skills.
