I am a results-driven individual dedicated to making a positive impact in my immediate community. My aim is to harness my technical, leadership, influencing, and emotional intelligence skills to create sustainable solutions in today's world. For example, I realized that Lagos is an epicenter for the production of unsafe food. According to the 2015 W.H.O. report, almost 1 in 10 people fall ill after eating contaminated food and 420, 000 people die every year. To address this problem, I co-founded Bekha’s Foundation in 2022 to contribute towards achieving SDGs 2. Here, I manage and coordinate a group of 25 people to provide cooked food and nutritional drinks to women, children, disabled people, and the elderly in the community. I raised funds by crowdsourcing on social media platforms. These funds are used to source food ingredients and package food relief materials. At the moment, over 2500 people in Lagos, Ijebu, and Ilorin have benefitted from the foundation reducing the hunger burden on over 2000 households. Furthermore, volunteering as a teacher, I have conducted tutorials to improve the quality of life of undergraduates in my university community. For example, I trained 80 final-year students on how to use the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel for analyzing their laboratory results. I demonstrated the use of analysis of variance, descriptive tests, and data visualization to analyze and interpret raw data. This training not only reduced the financial strain on these students but also improved their analytical capabilities, and equipped them with technical and marketable skills. As a result, 80 students are now empowered with statistical techniques giving them a competitive edge in today’s data-driven world. As a transformative leader who has been involved in different community-led initiatives and capacity building, I have amassed collaborative, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills over the years. This experience has made me a visionary leader who believes great things can be done from small places.
