Top100 Africa Future Leaders Partner with European Union and SWIS Africa for the EmpowHER Program

Across Africa, a new wave of innovation and leadership is emerging—driven by young, determined individuals who are ready to shape the continent’s future. At the heart of this movement is a growing commitment to empower women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), ensuring they are not only included but positioned to lead. It is within this vision that African Future Leaders proudly partners with SWIS Africa to deliver the EmpowHER program.
The EmpowHER program marks a significant milestone in advancing opportunities for female STEM students in Nigeria. After a rigorous selection process, 44 exceptional final-year female students have been chosen to participate in this transformative initiative. These young women represent brilliance, resilience, and the promise of a stronger, more inclusive future for Africa.
EmpowHER is more than just a program—it is a launchpad. Designed to provide targeted training, mentorship, and access to valuable networks, the initiative equips participants with the tools they need to transition confidently into careers in academia, industry, or entrepreneurship. By focusing on practical skills, real-world exposure, and guidance from experienced professionals, the program bridges the gap between education and opportunity.
This impactful initiative is made possible through the generous support of the European Union and the Global Youth Mobilization Fund. Their commitment to youth empowerment and gender inclusion continues to create pathways for meaningful change across the continent. Through their funding, programs like EmpowHER are able to reach talented individuals who might otherwise lack access to such opportunities.
Equally important is the collective effort behind the scenes. The success of EmpowHER is driven by a network of dedicated facilitators, mentors, advisory board members, and volunteers who have committed their time and expertise to shaping the next generation of leaders. Their involvement ensures that participants receive not just knowledge, but guidance, inspiration, and a sense of belonging within a larger community.
For African Future Leaders, this partnership with SWIS Africa reflects a shared mission: to identify, support, and elevate young Africans who have the potential to drive change. By investing in these 44 young women, the program is planting seeds that will grow into innovations, businesses, research breakthroughs, and leadership that will impact communities far beyond Nigeria.
As the journey begins, there is a strong sense of anticipation. The EmpowHER program is not just about what participants will learn—it is about who they will become. With the right support system, opportunities, and determination, these young women are poised to break barriers and redefine what is possible.
The future is bright, and it is being shaped—boldly and brilliantly—by empowered African women.
