As a young Nigerian Girl In STEM, I have been constantly motivated to challenge existing stereotypes. This spurred my desire for academic excellence, graduating as valedictorian with a First Class undergraduate degree in Physics and Astronomy. I vividly remember when I decided to pursue a career in STEM. In high school, I attended a science fair where I saw demonstration of a renewable energy project. This was my ‘Aha! Moment,’ igniting my passion for science and technology and inspiring me to dream of a future where I could lead innovative projects in the energy and sustainability sector. This drive has propelled me through seven years of professional excellence in the Energy and Aviation industries. Building on this foundation, my research has focused on decarbonizing high-emissions sectors. In my 2023 research publication, 'Gas Flaring in Nigeria: What Can Be Done To Curb It,' I explored sustainable environmental resource management practices compared to carbon-intensive methods, along with the role of environmental laws, public policies and regulatory enforcement. As a research associate at Integrated Africa Power, I led publications on low-carbon energy transitions, honing skills in data analysis, environmental impact assessment and policy evaluation. I also lead community sensitization outreach programs, enhancing public engagement in climate-change mitigation, as a volunteer publicity lead for the Global Future Energy Leaders Network. Beyond my academic and professional achievements, my commitment to advancing STEM education, particularly for young women, is evident through my leadership of the 'Nigerian Girl In STEM' Foundation since 2017. As a founder leading this Girls-In-STEM advocacy community of over 2000 volunteers, which empowers girls from underserved and disadvantaged communities to thrive in STEM careers through education, scholarship, and mentorship. I also co-founded "Hello Dreams", a Global Technology Solutions and EduTech company, driving sustainable development and technological innovation.
